I need to know which one of you kids did this?
It appears that you are all guilty! Go to your room!
It appears that all that is in our face as of late has been the “SHUTDOWN” of the US government. And everyone has their own favorite ax to grind with one grand ole party or dem others. And / or the various blended versions in between. And everyone is getting a wee bit cranky about the whole situation. And that includes me!
Really there seems to be a lot of jawing and finger pointing. A whole big bunch of that. But that’s about it. Not a whole lot of anything getting done to end the shutdown. And even though there are varied opinions on whether or not this should have happened, well it really kind of a moot point. It happened, it’s here and they need to fix it! Now there has also been an extraordinary amount of attention paid to our President , Mr. Obama. And it has been said that either he is entirely to blame or he is not at all to blame. Now here is one mans humble opinion on this whole shutdown ordeal. Keep in mind
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion however wrong you might be!
I say he is to blame. Why you ask? I really don’t care WHO is to blame! It appears that both the House and the Senate have their own agendas based on all the pompous rhetoric that keeps coming from their “leaders”. And they have both decided to stand their ground. Noble. Kinda sorta. But not functional. Totally dysfunctional. With those two entities in a locked horn battle for supremacy there should be a higher power that would be responsible for mediating and arbitrating for some common ground. That is called a COMPROMISE!

Now that we had out flashback to high school English class, it becomes pretty clear to me at least, that if the two primary combatants in this battle, the House and the Senate, can’t seem to come to an agreement then the next higher authority should step in. Common Sense 101.
This is where I say he is to blame. Unfortunately the higher authority, the President, doesn’t on the surface seem to have any interest to look for some common ground either! Oh yes, he made a couple of phone calls and a couple of sit downs but then he has appeared to step away. Just an observation here. In my humble opinion he, the president, should have the common good of the country and it’s people as a primary concern. Most of what I have heard claims it’s not his fault! It’s those damnable Republicans! The nagging phone calls should be constant and the presidential sit downs should actually be a lock down till we work this out! He is expected to be an active participant in the running of the country. Instead he has made a barrage of fire and brimstone outbursts over the last days. Both at the White House and away, it is becoming readily apparent that he either doesn’t want a compromise [stubborn?] or …… can’t seem to muster the tools to actually orchestrate a compromise! [ineffective?] Neither of these choices is good for the country. And really does himself and the country a disservice. He is supposed to be the leader of this great country but instead has chosen to bugger off the issue and just let it take it’s course. While in the meantime spouting off here and there about how bad this is, how bad it is for the economy and how bad it is for Americans. And he is supposed to be the big man in charge.
Sidebar – He has managed to piss off a large segment of the US population using the Park Service as his willing tools. Closing open air monuments, national parks, restricting access to privately owed and funded institutions and even trying to close the ocean! Another blog entry. Stay tuned.
If there was ever an event in history that polarizes the American public this is a doozie! The people are now getting to see the true colors and metal of their elected officials. AND their elected president in all their uncovered glory! And it is no doubt getting everyone’s attention. Now we will see if they get fed up or agree wholeheartedly enough to make a stand. Cast your vote, send and email, make a phone call, or even write a blog entry! I hope so. I am sure everyone has picked a side to blame. And many are voicing an opinion on it.
It doesn’t really matter to me which side you are on, what does matter is that this is a bad idea and needs to end soon. In a COMPROMISE! While it may not be the ultimate solution at least it will be a functional one. That both sides have agreed on. They all may need to go back to high school English 101 and refresh their memories on this one important word. The House and Senate need to get a grip and work through this. And Mr. Obama, despite whether you like him or not, needs to suck it up, act like a president and work for a conclusion to this event!
Just one mans opinion. MINE!
