Why do I say that?
Picture this if you will
I worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts in the Oak Park, MI store #3345 for about 2 1/2 years as a parts pro. But due to a lack of cooperation on their behalf to provide a simple answer to a simple request at the district and regional level and after 48 hours with no response from either , I decided to terminate my employment with them.
This is where it gets odd
During your employment you are given what is called an employee account with which you can purchase your parts at a discount. It falls under the same database as commercial accounts. You can’t have a retail account during your employment. Pretty simple and straight forward right? You can access the account just like any other from any store in the country. Easy.
Well … I have an issue with a battery I purchased in January of 2016. And since it is under warranty, About 6PM I took it to the store at 9 Mile and Coolidge and since it tested bad I was expecting to simply invoke my warranty. They chant that you really don’t need a receipt because it is all doced in the system by name and phone number. Well …No can do.
Poof! It’s gone!
When they attempted to access my employee account by number, lo and behold, the account is gone! 2 1/2 years of parts for a wide variety of vehicles not available! Now let’s look up my phone number. Oops! Nothing there. Let’s try my name. Um …. nope! Oh! Wait! The manager told me he was setting up a commercial account for Bob’s Garage. Let’s try that. Uhhh … this is not good! Nothing!
Basically it appears that I have been wiped off the system! I then ask the manager on duty to contact the store manager, Mr. Rico Pridgeway, to find a solution. it was passed to me that his response was that I would have to wait till the morning because “corporate is closed and all the files are locked up.” Really? When did data files get put away and locked up? And since we are EST 6PM is 3PM LA time. They are still open. It all sounded sketchy to me. Kinda like “I don’t want to deal with this right now“.
I sure hope this is a clerical error! Because if this is the way it works then this is in a very treacherous area of consumer fraud. As a result me and my battery are going to be on Mr. Pridgeway’s doorstep bright and early at 7:30 AM when they open up. I am not in a very good mood right now and I will get a solution. What it is I am not sure. But since I am no longer an employee but a paying customer the texture of my approach can change. I don’t have to be politically correct. Right up my alley!
All I can say is stand by! Film at 11!
