Jesus Is Coming! Quick! Look Busy!

I appears that some of the “influential ecumenical math majors” have somehow figured out, again, exactly when Christ is coming back! This latest new date of DOOM is May 21, 2011.

Judgment Day is coming May 21, 2011 — not sometime this decade, not sometime this year, but precisely on May 21.
The hundreds of billboards warning unrepentant commuters of their impending doom are courtesy of a California radio station led by 89-year-old Harold Camping, who initially predicted the world would end in 1994.

Now this is pretty definitive and final. But doesn’t give a time of day. With that said, all the hype and even billboards proclaiming this date really do make one think… Is it me ,or are these people that easily lead to believe and contribute their hard earned cash on this event, literally betting their life, knowing that if this doesn’t happen it is gonna look real bad for them and they have spent their life following a charlatan. And I don’t see them getting a refund! Plus it is one more item to chalk up to NOT putting your lives in the hands of self proclaimed evangelists touting a book of collected fables and parables, written hundreds of years after the fact, by authors who really weren’t who they say they were, found in pieces scattered over many countries and stitched together into a single literary work called the Bible. With some different versions, Old and New, and other edited and amended versions based on the publishers beliefs.
So as far as I am concerned, this is one more reason not to listen to these Bible quoting followers of what ever sect of the day is in the news, because when it really comes down to it, in my opinion, they are all using the same “book” as a reference guide but just can’t seem to get a consistent story going! Doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of “Divine guidance” here.
Now I am guessing a different calculation from the Inca / Maya calculation of Dec 21, 2012 may also be a bit off. This date is in some circles regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this date have been proposed. God and his fanclub
So once this date has passed I will mark it as the next big event!
